Beta Film has sold its first international deals for its Korean drama slate to screen at MIPCOM 2026, as MBC Group picks up two series for its Shahid platform in the Middle East and North Africa.

The broadcaster has secured Snow White Must Die, a 16 x 60-minute crime drama, and Skam Korea - Fragile, an 8 x 26-minute teenage drama. Also purchasing Snow White Must Die are Rai from Italy and ERT from Greece, and according to the distributor, more talks are ongoing.

Snow White Must Die is based on the internationally popular German novel by Nele Neuhaus. The series follows a young man who returns home after 10 years in jail for a crime he cannot remember committing and tries to prove his innocence. The cast includes Byun Yo Han, Ko Jun, Go Bo-gyeol, and Kim Bo-ra, and it is directed by Byun Young Joo from a script by Seo Joo-yeon.

"Skam Korea - Fragile" is the first Asian remake of the Norwegian teen format Skam, helmed by Ji-hoon Ahn, and follows Ji Yu, a teenage girl navigating academic pressure, self-identity struggles, friendships, and a rocky relationship with her boyfriend, Chan Seong.

Beta Film will manage international sales for both projects, and these deals mark its entry into the South Korean drama distribution business.

This acquisition of Shahid comes after a few weeks, when the MBC Group signed an agreement with CJ ENM to produce more Korean dramas in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Both announcements show that MBC is buying Korean dramas not only from Korean companies but also from European distributors, and that too during the same MIPCOM week.
